Oral history interview with Richard Rogers, 1974 November 11.

Interview with Richard Rogers, son of Mary Kay Ash, concerning his experiences in the cosmetics industry as President of Mary Kay Cosmetics. He recalls his mother's selling career and its impact on her own company, their relations with sales personnel, and their decision to form their own company. Rogers discusses marketing and sales motivation, the wig business, pricing, and the dual management system. In addition, Rogers explains his views on legal aspects and government regulation, self-regulation, consumerism, and product quality. Finally, Rogers explains their reasons for going public with stock, financing methods, contract and private labeling, budgeting, Australian experiences, expansion, specialization vs. diversification, building a management team, as well as his views on the motivational differences between men and women and what he feels are the reasons for the success of Mary Kay Cosmetics.
